How to choose quality supplements in Colombia: 5 criteria
The Colombian supplement market grows every year, and with it an offer of very uneven quality. These five criteria let you evaluate any supplement with verifiable data, without relying on advertising.
1. Valid INVIMA sanitary registration
This is the non-negotiable minimum filter: without INVIMA registration, the product is illegal and there is no guarantee it contains what it declares. The number must be on the label and verifiable on the official INVIMA portal.
2. Formula transparency
A serious label declares each active ingredient with its amount per serving, not undisclosed "proprietary blends". If a product advertises collagen but does not state grams per serving, you cannot compare or judge whether the dose is meaningful.
3. Evidence-backed doses
Compare the dose per serving with the ranges used in clinical studies. A product can contain the right ingredient in token amounts: the dose is what separates a useful supplement from a decorative one.
4. Format and adherence
The best supplement is the one you actually take every day. Mixing powders, single-serve sticks, or capsules suit different routines. Single-dose sticks (like FuXion's) make consistency easier on the go; powder jars usually offer better cost per serving.
5. Seller traceability
Buy from formal distributors that declare their legal name, contact details, and return policies (in Colombia, Law 1480 grants a 5-business-day right of withdrawal for distance purchases). A seller you cannot contact after the purchase is an avoidable risk.
Frequently asked questions
Does a higher price guarantee better quality?
Not by itself. Price should be evaluated as cost per effective serving: a pricier jar with more servings at clinical doses can be cheaper per dose than a cheap one with token doses.
Should I consult a professional before supplementing?
Yes, especially if you have medical conditions, take medication, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. A nutritionist or doctor can evaluate interactions and appropriate doses for your case.
